Electoral Districts / CHELTENHAM

Named after a town in Gloucestershire, England. Derived from the Anglo Saxon word 'celtanhom' meaning an enclosure on a brook called Chelt. The area was initially offered for sale in 1849.

Area:approx. 17.3km2

Location: A residential district with some light industry north-west of the CBD. The northern boundary is Grand Junction Road, the southern boundary skirts the Royal Adelaide Golf Course with Cheltenham Park Racecourse and Woodville Oval situated in the district.

History: The seat was created at the 1998 redistribution (formerly named Price); no changes to the boundaries were made in 2003.
