Electoral Districts / DAVENPORT Sir Samuel Davenport (1818-1906) was elected to the Legislative Council in 1857. He was responsible for damming the Torrens Gorge, laying pipes to the city and encouraging the cultivation of a diverse range of crops and fruits, including the production of olive oil and the introduction of the docile Ligurian bee. Area:approx. 37.4km2 Location: Encompasses plains and hills suburbs of the southern Adelaide foothills. The boundaries of the seat were changed at the 1998 redistribution to include Coromandel Valley and part of the suburbs of Flagstaff Hill and O'Halloran Hill to the south while the suburb of Belair to the north and east was excluded.
