Supplementary election

A supplementary election may occur when a position becomes vacant within a council. A vacancy can occur due to death, illness, resignation, or any other circumstances outlined in section 54(1) of the Local Government Act 1999.

Due to the resignation of two members of the council, a supplementary election will be necessary to fill the vacancies for Councillors. For more information, visit the council's website:

Nominations open

Nominations to be a candidate for election as a member of the Kangaroo Island Council will open on between Friday 26 April 2019 and close at 12 noon Friday 10 May 2019. Candidates must submit a profile of not more than 150 words with their nomination form and may also provide a photograph, predominantly head and shoulders, taken within the previous 12 months.

Nomination kits are available from the Kangaroo Island Council (external link) office, 43 Dauncey Street, Kingscote.

A briefing session for intending candidates will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019 at the Council Chambers, 43 Dauncey Street, Kingscote (Osmond Street car park entrance).
