The Coorong District Council is currently reviewing how their members are elected. As part of this review, the Council has proposed to change the principal member of the Council to an elected Mayor instead of an appointed Chairperson.

In October 2021, all enrolled voters in the Coorong District Council will receive a voting pack in the post. Voters will be asked to choose if they support changing the principal member of the Council to an elected Mayor instead of an appointed Chairperson.

Mail out of voting material

Voting material will be mailed to electors between Wednesday 6 October and Tuesday 12 October 2021. To be accepted, ballot papers must be completed and returned no later than 12 noon, Tuesday 26 October 2021.

A ballot box will be provided at the following locations for electors wishing to personally deliver their completed voting material during office hours:

  • Coorong Civic Centre, 95-101 Railway Terrace, Tailem Bend
  • Meningie Information Hub, 49 Princes Highway, Meningie
  • Tintinara Customer Service Centre, 37 Becker Terrace, Tintinara

Scrutiny and count

The scrutiny and count of ballot papers will be held at Electoral Commission South Australia, Level 6, 60 Light Square, Adelaide, commencing from 9:30 am, Wednesday 27 October 2021.

Provisional results will be announced following the conclusion of the count.
