Voting at by-elections


The next by-elections will be held on Saturday 9 February 2019. Voting at by-elections is done in person on polling day at polling booths all across South Australia. For people unable to attend a polling booth on 9 February, a range of voting options are available.

Issue of writs Friday 11 January
Close of rolls 12 Noon, Monday 21 January
Close of nominations 12 Noon, Thursday 24 January
Interstate voting opens Local times, Tuesday 29 January
Early voting opens 9am, Tuesday 29 January
Distribution of postal ballots commence Tuesday 29 January
Deadline for receipt of postal vote applications 5pm, Thursday 7 February
Early voting and interstate voting closes 5pm (Local times), Friday 8 February
Polling day 8am – 6pm, Saturday 9 February
Deadline for receipt of postal ballots Saturday 16 February
Return of writs Friday 22 February
